Cash Advance Loans

A Better Choice than Payday Loans!

Cash Advance Loans are a better alternative to expensive Payday Loans. Now, Bethlehem Teachers FCU offers members an alternative to payday lending with a new short term, unsecured Cash Advance Loan.

Payday Loans, often made by check cashing agencies, are very high cost products. They may actually contribute to monetary shortages due to high interest charges and high fees that cut into the next paycheck.

The Cash Advance Loan is offered as an alternative to payday lending to members who are at least 18 years of age and legally able to enter into a binding contract. Members who are in good standing and have belonged to the credit union for at least 90 days may apply.

To help members establish a cash reserve to make ends meet in the future, the Cash Advance Loan requires that 10% of the loan proceeds be automatically placed into the member’s Share savings account.

Maximum term:	90 days
Maximum loan amount:	$500.00
Interest rate:	18% APR
Application Fee:	$20.00 (may not be financed)
Income Requirement:	Must have verifiable income for a continuous period of 6 months (proof of income is required).
Mandatory Savings:	10% of the loan amount will be deposited into the members Share account. This amount is added to the loan balance in addition to the amount requested and may not be withdrawn until the Cash Advance loan is paid in full. Loan interest paid on the 10% placed in the share account will be rebated to the member’s share account upon timely loan payoff. In the event the loan is charged off, any amount in the member’s share account may be used to offset the loan loss.
Other requirements:	The cash advance loan must be paid in full prior to member application for another loan. Applicant may not be in the process of filing for bankruptcy. There is no minimum credit score requirement.
